At the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), we focus on creative answers to today's energy challenges. From breakthroughs in fundamental science to new clean technologies to integrated energy systems that power our lives, NREL researchers are transforming the way the nation and the world use energy.
American Farmland Trust was founded in 1980 to save America’s farms and ranches. We created the conservation agriculture movement, which speaks for the land—and for the people who grow our food. As the movement’s leaders, we have three priorities: protecting agricultural land, promoting environmentally sound farming practices, and keeping farmers on the land.

The AgriSolar Clearinghouse is a nationwide hub developed by the National Center for Appropriate Technology to connect businesses, landowners, and researchers with trusted resources to support the growth of co-located solar and sustainable agriculture. We believe that by co-locating solar and agriculture, we can harvest the sun twice, expand clean energy opportunities in rural America, improve farm profitability, create thriving solar ecosystems, increase community resilience, and help keep farmer lands in farmers’ hands.
The American Solar Grazing Association (ASGA) was founded to promote grazing sheep on solar installations. In our industry, we are facilitating research, best practices, and leading the way to co-location at solar arrays with solar grazing.
Solar Farm Summit (SFS) is North America's 1st dedicated agrivoltaics development conference and exhibition. Bringing together leading practitioners, researchers, developers, policy makers, and advocates from around the world, SFS offers the highest caliber educational program and social experience in a multi-day event.
The North American Agrivoltaics Awards (NAAA) is an annual campaign to discover, elevate and celebrate outstanding achievements in the advancement of dual-use solar development in North America. Following open nominations, finalists best representing excellence in agrivoltaics and ecovoltaics are chosen by the host committee. Ultimate NAAA winners are decided via aggregated public and committee vote and will receive individual awards while being recognized on stage during the NAAA Ceremony and Reception held during the Solar Farm Summit.
The Solar Farm Summit is a solar energy, land use and agrivoltaics conference and expo focused on ground-mounted solar development and dual-use projects co-locating solar power and agricultural production or advanced conservation practices, including pollinator habitat, as well as the redevelopment of marginal and brownfield land.
Beyond ‘making a space’ and market for those attending our conference, our aim is to begin an ever-present campaign to seed the marketplace of ideas far and wide. We aim to prove solar, agriculture and conservation land uses are not in conflict and elevate the broader agrivoltaics conversation. We’re intent on opening specific opportunities for farmers who attend each Solar Farm Summit, but our highest objective is to win hearts and minds across the heartland, and move hands to action until agrivoltaics is adopted on a planetary scale.
The 2025 Solar Farm Summit
North America's 1st dedicated dual-use development conference and agrivoltaics exhibition will dig even deeper into the essential solar energy and agriculture nexus during its 3rd supersized installment, which is scheduled to land on the lake front in downtown Chicago on August 4-7, 2025!
